For curtain width, measure the total width of the pole or track (excluding the finials), and allow approximately 1” (1.25 cm) extra for the overlap in the middle when they are closed.  Find out how to measure for poles and tracks by clicking here.

For the length, decide whether you would like your curtains to fit to the floor, below the sill or to the sill.  Suggested measurements are:-

                    Floor length curtains finish ½” (1.25 cm) from the floor
                    Below sill curtains finish 6” (15cm) below the sill
                    Sill length curtains finish ½” (1.25cm) above the sill

If you choose pencil pleat curtains, measure from the small metal ring at the bottom of each curtain ring.  This will stop the pole or rings being obscured by the curtain

For tab top and eyelet curtains, measure from the top of the track.
